The purpose of the Qualitative Research Methods Concentration is to engage students with complex epistemologies and methodologies of a diverse range of qualitative research methods. Epistemology, reflexivity, analytic rigor, participation, scholarly contribution, and public relevance are among the values guiding this concentration. The structure of the concentration is one required foundational course “Conceptual and Methodological Foundations of Qualitative Research” or “Qualitative Research Methods”; a student selection of at least 3 courses from among different electives offered each year, and a final presentations of qualitative research studies culminate the concentration.
